“Thank you, everything is amazing! The course is incredible, I haven't regretted this purchase once!”

“Thank you, Julia, you opened up a whole new world of sounds for me. Honestly, 100% of the course material was new to me.”

“This is the first course in a long time that I completed start to finish, watching every single material. We met with the girls every week, and that was its own special thing. I think this program paid for itself the moment our group of four came together. The people here are incredible. Thank you for bringing us together and giving me amazing new connections — and hopefully, future friends!”
Every sound has its own place in the mouth — and in English, that place is often different from what we're used to in Russian. We find that place again and learn a close, clear sound.
In the American phonetic system, almost every sound differs from Russian. We find them again and learn to place each one correctly — breaking down vowels, diphthongs, and consonants in detail.
Russian sounds much more choppy than English. We learn to connect words so speech flows smoothly.
In Russian, stressed syllables are long and drawn out, making speech very even. In English, stressed syllables can be both long and short. We learn to break the rhythm the American way.
We remove the falling intonation that makes us sound blunt or flat to Americans, and learn the natural rises and falls.
We practice all of this on live examples and retrain our neural pathways with new combinations — through shadowing, drills, and folding the knowledge into everyday speech.
The methodology draws on the experience of American accent coaches who work with actors in Hollywood, helping them achieve any pronunciation through a phonetic system — Russian included. We map these tools to the specific pronunciation patterns of Russian-speaking students.
Hi! My name is Julia, and I managed to get rid of my Russian accent in English and sound like a Julia who was born in suburban Michigan. How did I do it? At first I studied the British accent closely and modeled myself on it — I traveled to England a few times and learned to imitate the British precisely. But when I decided to apply to acting school in America, I faced a much bigger task: getting rid of my Russian accent completely, or my dream career would never happen. I had to study it all myself, train with YouTube, work with native speakers — and still only made tiny progress.
Then, once I moved to New York to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, I started studying phonetics and how actors actually work with accents. From professional coaches working on Hollywood film sets and Broadway productions, I learned how American English works from the inside — and how someone who grew up in a different phonetic world can get rid of an accent completely. Thanks to my accent now, I can audition for any role, feel like I belong among Americans, and know that my English is my strength, not my weakness.
Then I started adapting this system specifically for people who grew up speaking Russian. That's how Accent Reduction Academy was born — a school where anyone can find a confident American sound. 450+ people have gone through my program, and I'm incredibly proud to have built this for ambitious, driven people.
«It is my considered judgment that Yulia Gladchenko's expertise in accent reduction methodology is extraordinary by the standard of our field.»
«Everything seems to meet or surpass currently supported pedagogical methods and standards within the Voice and Speech Trainers Association guidelines.»
Any level works. For those just starting out (A1–A2), it's a great foundation — you won't have to unlearn anything later. For advanced levels (B2–C1), it's a way to reach a whole new level of sound, rewiring patterns that are already in place. Everything is taught through simple examples, so a high level isn't required.

No, our school focuses specifically on accent work.
We don't break down sounds one by one — we work through a six-step system: Placement (where the sound is formed), Sounds (vowels, consonants, diphthongs), Connection (linking and reductions), Rhythm (stress and timing), Intonation (the melody of speech), and Integration (carrying it all into spontaneous speech).
For now, we offer all our programs online only.
In that time, we work through every sound in American English — one pair of sounds per week. The program breaks down like this: vowels (6 weeks), diphthongs (2 weeks), consonants (6 weeks), rhythm and intonation (2 weeks).
The more, the better! Ideally, 15 minutes a day for 4–6 months.
The program is designed for students to go through it together with their cohort, in small groups. But if you need to work at your own pace, we're always happy to help and adapt the program to your schedule.
Not at all. Accent Reduction Academy students live all over the world.
It depends on a lot of factors: what age they started learning the language, how much English they're surrounded by each day, their aptitude for languages, their ear, how flexible the muscles of their mouth are. It's absolutely possible if you have some natural ability and you work on it every day. But if you get very little English and barely practice, the accent is unlikely to go away on its own.
No — you'll discover a new part of yourself in English and start to feel more comfortable and confident.
